Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking porter to join our team. The porter will be responsible for providing manual labor, including maintaining cleanliness and order in the building’s common areas/exterior areas, performing minor maintenance tasks, and assisting residents with various requests.
Responsibilities
The Porter shall report directly to the Building Superintendent and/or Management and shall follow and execute written or verbal direction as directed. The Porter must work cooperatively with the Superintendent and Management.
Clean and maintain all public common areas in the building, including the lobby, hallways, stairwells, etc., through the performance of the following tasks on both a routine and an as needed basis:
o Dusting, mopping, and sweeping all floors.
o Vacuum all rugs and carpets in the building.
o Wash the interior of all windows and glass in the building, and the accessible exterior sides when necessary.
o Scrub and cleanse all public restrooms in the building.
o Dust and clean wall surfaces, including graffiti removal as required.
o Clean elevator, elevator tracks, and any service entrances to the building.
Perform work as instructed by the building Superintendent and/or Management, regarding the preparation and removal of any trash or recycling items, in accordance with the rules set forth by DSNY, including the following related routine tasks:
o Pick up trash on any areas inside the building or outside on the property.
o Empty all trash receptacles and replace liners.
o Clean and maintain all trash rooms and compactors.
Notify the Superintendent and/or Management of any needed repairs he/she visually observes in the building.
Strip, spray buff and apply finish to floors, and shampoo carpets, as needed or on a schedule determined by the Superintendent or Management.
Assist with snow removal and flood control when required.
Perform other related work as required or instructed by the building Superintendent and/or Management.
Maintain all necessary building paperwork, including any pertinent equipment records, registrations, manuals or other relevant documentation as directed by the Superintendent and/or Management.
Qualifications
Experience with cleaning practices and equipment.
Perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength.
Previous work experience in the same or similar field.
Basic knowledge of cleaning products and maintenance tasks
Friendly and customer-oriented demeanor
Compensation
Wages: $21.58 per hour
Supplemental Benefits: $0.00 per hour (0-3 Months)
$12.01 per hour (4-12 Months)
$15.48 per hour (12-24 Months)
