We're a very small commercial litigation firm. We need a freelance paralegal who is available on short notice to check over and correct documents before we file them. That means understanding:
1. The legal requirements for filing pleadings as per the CPLR, uniform rules, commercial division rules, and part rules;
2. Citation guidelines;
3. Procedures of the NYS Supreme Court;
4. How to redact documents, create privilege logs, Bates stamp documents and send them to opposing counsel;
What we expect you to do is not just check the document on its face for proper spelling and grammar and compliance with the requirements of the court system but also to consider each line of each document as you read it - is the index number correct? is the venue correct? Is this the correct summons for the court we are in? Are all names spelled properly? Are all relevant documents attached? Is the WHEREFORE clause omitted by accident? Is the signature line omitted by accident, etc?
Finally, we'll need you to utilize ChatGPT for document analysis. This tool will assist in preparing tables of facts and arguments to aid us in our oral arguments.
