Join Brownstone Door Co., a custom door manufacturer with a rich history of craftsmanship.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, part-time AutoCAD drafter who is as passionate about historic architectural details as we are. Whether you’re just starting out in your career and eager to work on projects that preserve architectural heritage, or you’re an experienced drafter looking to transition to a part-time schedule, this role might be for you.
Join our small team and see how your drawings make a real-world impact. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to witness our fabrication process firsthand and learn exactly how doors are made from start to finish.
This is an in-person position requiring real-time collaboration with the production team.
-How to Apply-
To be considered for this position, please submit a cover letter explaining your interest in the role, your resume, and a portfolio of drafting examples that showcase your work with emphasis on details.
-How you will contribute-
You will use AutoCAD to develop precise, technical 2D drawings and craft complementary 3D models with tools like Sketchup or Rhino.
The drawings are essential for every phase of our custom door projects—including Landmark Preservation Commission submittals, shop drawings for client review, fabrication drawings to support our production team, and installation drawings to guide our field subcontractors. The 3D generated models are used to create accurate historic details on our CNC machines.
Additionally, you'll regularly visit project sites to obtain and confirm accurate measurements—critical for generating precise shop drawings. You'll also coordinate with the production team to incorporate design changes and updates.
You'll also organize and maintain drawing files and project documentation.
-Why This Role Matters-
Our company has earned a reputation for accurately replicating historic doors and producing drawings of the highest standard. In this role, you’ll be entrusted with upholding our meticulous standards, ensuring that every historic detail is captured with precision. This is your opportunity to contribute to a legacy of quality craftsmanship while deepening your understanding of the art and science behind door fabrication.
-The Ideal Candidate-
You’re extremely detail-oriented with at least 2 years’ experience in AutoCAD drafting and 3D modeling, professionally or in school — and you’re a motivated individual eager to grow your skills in this area.
You have excellent organizational, time management, communication and people skills.
You’re willing to go beyond the job description when needed, contributing wherever needed.
-Position Details-
This position is part-time, Monday-Wednesday, 9am-5pm.
The pay rate is $25-$30/hr, depending on your experience relevant to our fabrication process.
We offer accrual of PTO days, accrual sick days, and paid transit benefits.
Annual paid holiday shutdown from Christmas to New Year’s Day.
