Facility Manager

About the Role

The Facility Manager will be responsible for maintaining the buildings and grounds and overseeing the upkeep of equipment. They will determine and schedule repairs, renovation, and maintenance projects and coordinate safety inspections. Facility manager will be asked to obtain bids and negotiate with outside vendors for repairs and other measures.

Responsibilities

This position will report to the Business Manager. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

- Create and manage schedules for cleaning and maintenance projects, overseeing tasks and ensuring safety and

cleanliness across interior and exterior areas. 

- Perform routine maintenance repairs and delegate maintenance orders, supervising cleaning and maintenance teams or

assistants. 

- Schedule routine inspections, emergency repairs, and coordinate with external vendors (elevator, rolling gates, HVAC,

etc.). 

- Maintain day-to-day facility operations, delegating maintenance orders and ensuring smooth functioning. 

-Prepare the facilities for changing weather conditions and collaborate on budgeting with building owners and upper

management. 

- Produce detailed reports encompassing maintenance, repairs, safety, and relevant occurrences for supervisors and staff. 

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in building maintenance with proficiency in repair tools and techniques including

basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and mechanical systems.

- Excellent communication skills across all levels including employees, guests, vendors, and team members.

- Strong time management, organizational skills, and prioritization abilities.

- Familiarity with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), NYS, and NYC certifications and

regulations.

- Proactive engagement and a positive approach.

- Sharp attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.

- Capability to lift heavy equipment and stand or walk for extended periods.

Physical Requirements

Work occurs in the manufacturing facility with artificial lighting. Equipment used may involve telephones, power tools, and hand tools. There is exposure to typical industrial elements like dust, moderate noise, varying temperatures, fumes, and certain chemicals. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, crawling, climbing, reaching, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, using both hands repetitively, fine motor skills, being around machinery, occasional driving, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.

Compensation and Location

This is a full-time typically Monday - Friday position but workdays and hours may vary according to the needs of the operation. The salary range is $58,000 to $72,000 annually and commensurate with experience. The compensation package includes employer-paid health insurance (covering <50%), voluntary dental and vision insurance, an HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement), commuter benefits, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and a matching 401(k) plan after one year of employment. The position is in our production facility in Brooklyn, NY.
