Assistant Buyer/Category Manager

The Assistant Buyer/Category Manager position supports the Senior Buyers by handling assigned categories with minimal supervision. Ideal candidate will be able to handle their own category and then assistant in clerical and buying functions of peers. This requires daily coordination between departments and vendors combined with a wide variety of high-level administrative support activities and analysis. It is a MUST the candidate holds a valid drivers license and has a personal vehicle. The majority of the work week is at the corporate office in Coney Island, Brooklyn but will be required to visit any of our retail locations in New York and New Jersey.

You enjoy rolling up your sleeves. You understand the importance of performing administrative tasks well and can toggle between big picture strategic work and day to day “to dos” with ease.

Required Experience:

Prior experience in Category or Product Management, Merchandising, or an analytical administrative role preferred. Experience in a wholesale or retail environment a plus.

A genuine interest in discount retail and “deal making”

Expert in Microsoft Office Applications with an advanced knowledge of Excel.

Outstanding math and problem solving skills.

Self-starter who is able to work independently.

Must be adaptable, flexible and able to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.

Generous benefits package includes aggressive pay rate, good health benefits and regular five day work week. Follows a typical office schedule of 10am-630pm. Reimbursement for travel expenses and work related costs.
