Balkan Sewer and Water Main Service is NYC’s largest house sewer and water main service line contractor, and we have been in continuous operation for over 70 years. Our complete in-house repair facility operates in a professional and respectful work environment.
Our team is seeking a highly skilled and responsible Head Diesel Truck Mechanic to oversee our team of mechanics to maintain and repair our fleet of over 50 vehicles and equipment which includes Freightliner FL70's, MT55 service trucks, Mack tandem and tri-axle dump trucks, CAT backhoes, Case 580 backhoes, 185CFM and 210CFM air compressors, and a wide assortment of pneumatic and other tools.
Responsibilities
● Trains and manages a team of mechanics.
● Manage work orders, and inventory of parts, equipment, tools, and supplies.
● Service heavy diesel engine vehicles, including preventative, routine maintenance and repairs.
● Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes
● Diagnose and repair vehicles and all other equipment on our fleet.
● Execute special projects as assigned by management.
● Possess own mechanical tool set.
● Knowledge of DOT inspections and perform preventative maintenance.
● Keep detailed records and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications:
● Valid and clean driver’s license.
● Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
● Minimum of 10 years of diesel vehicle relevant experience.
● Must have own set of tools.
● Mechanical and technical knowledge: use of computers and diagnostics tools to troubleshoot and repair all faulty equipment.
● Be able to diagnose and repair: Electrical, Brakes, Exhaust, Suspension, Lights.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
● Proven ability to work independently, exercise good judgment and seek additional information as appropriate.
● Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
