C.Job Description General Description Under the day-to-day supervision of the Director of College Transition and Alternative Credit programs, the Coordinator of College Transition and Student Support Services will serve as the single point of contact in providing students with a comprehensive array of services such as college transition advisement and planning, degree mapping and student supports. Designs and leads intermittent workshops, seminars, tours, etc. in areas of specialization. Researches and prepares reports, collects and analyzes data, drafts manuals, creates forms, makes presentations, and keeps confidential records.The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that program deliverables are met, by fulfilling the following duties:

Supports advising and student outreach programming for the division, including some nights and weekends, assists with space and event requests.

Assists with answering general advising questions for prospective students from Continuing Education programs.

Organizes and compiles outreach schedules and communication plan.

Updates advisement communication materials and participates in media design and communication working group.

Works with prospective students to resolve academic issues by providing policy information and/or referrals for new and returning students, peer advisors, faculty and academic unit advisors, and professional academic advisors.

Uses multiple technologies to advise and communicate with student caseload including CUNYFirst, DegreeWorks, EAB Navigate, Zoom, project management software, etc.

Advises students regarding academic requirements, campus resources, academic planning and degree maps, and co- curricular opportunities.

Assists in developing and conducting advising program assessment and compiling and analyzing data.

Actively promotes accessibility and visibility of advising through public programs and online presence. Coordinator is expected to engage in virtual advising, chat rooms, social media, videos, and online tutorials.

Position may occasionally require evening and/or weekend work.

Assist the Wellness and Engagement team with intake processes, outreach efforts, and referrals as needed.

Other Duties

Interfaces as needed with support staff from various college offices in resolving issues involving student needs or technical issues.

Collaborates with others to develop special client service/informational activities, e.g. college tours, community events, etc.

Observes established security measures regarding access to confidential records.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelors’ Degree in a directly related field of study from an accredited institution

Two years of higher education administration, advising or related experience preferred

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding and complex work environment, to carry out complex assignments in a timely manner; and to adapt to changing situations and priorities;

Demonstrated interest in working with diverse populations;

Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, time-management skills, as well as strong work ethics and commitment to success;

Ability to analyze data for continuous program improvement;

Computer skills should include MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint);

Ability to keep all matters related to participants confidential;

Ability to communicate effectively by conveying simple to complex concepts/processes to members, staff, or other stakeholders as well as listen and respond to concerns/ideas of others.

Ability to respond calmly to emergencies and to fashion solution to members, administrative, or technical problems; ability to seek assistance when needed;

Consistently attend work/meetings/appointments on time; Ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent. Completes work within established deadlines.
