Patient Registration Representative

Description:The Patient Registration Clerk plays a vital role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring accurate patient information is collected and processed efficiently. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Responsibilities:

Patient Check-in & Data Entry: Greet patients upon arrival, verify and enter accurate personal, demographic, and insurance information into the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system.

Insurance Verification: Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as necessary, ensuring accurate billing and minimizing claim denials.

Appointment Scheduling: Assist patients with scheduling appointments and coordinating any necessary follow-up visits or referrals.

Patient Information Updates: Ensure all patient information is up-to-date and properly maintained, including contact details, insurance policies, and medical history.

Billing & Payment Processing: Collect co-pays and payments at time of service, process financial transactions, and provide patients with receipts or payment information.

Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with clinical staff, department supervisors, and other hospital departments to ensure smooth patient flow and timely registration.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, compassionate demeanor.

Ability to multitask and manage high volumes of patient interactions.

Familiarity with insurance plans, billing procedures, and HIPAA regulations is a plus.
