The Baxter Mountain Tavern has successfully transitioned from a sit-down restaurant/bar to a full-service takeout restaurant that includes option to sit at the many tables outside on our awning, deck and meadow. Other than the option for single party to book private dining in a separate room, we have decided for the safety of employees and customers to avoid inside dining. The Baxter is seeking experienced cooks and prep/dishwashing staff to join our busy restaurant operation that has somehow figured out how to succeed in the age of Covid.
Not only have we re-invented our restaurant, we have also changed the compensation system so now all house tips are split equally between the front of the house and kitchen. This means kitchen staff now actually earn significantly higher wages that are tied to how well the restaurant does each night. Those unemployment benefits may look good right now but you don’t want to miss the opportunity to grab one of the best paying kitchen jobs in the North Country.
Experienced cooks will need to have ability to adapt to learning our eclectic and frequently changing menu. Experience prep/dish staff are preferred but we are ready to train anyone who is willing to work hard note that there are not many dishes at a takeout operation so we do not want have pure dishwashing roles. We have 2-5 shifts available weekly for each of the roles with both day and night shifts though anyone joining will need to work at least one weekend shift and one night shift to meet our needs.
