We are seeking a Ball Distribution Associatewho will play a crucial part on our 2024 US OPEN team! Start Date: August 14, 2024 End Date: September 8, 2024 Shift: 8:30am - last match (varies every night) Must be onsite every day during tournament off Aug 24-25 The Role This is a seasonal position in the US Open Umpires Area. The position involves assisting the US Open Chief Umpire Staff in maintaining the US Open Umpire areas in good condition and well supplied. This positions reports to the Chief Umpire for the US Open and USTA Officiating Staff. Duties include but are not limited to:
Executing Ball Distribution to courts and stadiums across the campus throughout the day
Keep an accurate inventory count, tracking distribution numbers
Maintaining the supply of water and beverages to umpire areas and ordering more as needed
Pick up and drop off daily umpire towel allotment
Coordinate with cleaning and laundry vendor on-site
Report any issues that require Facility Operations assistance and follow up on details for work orders
Assist with set up for officials ceremonies
Assist in umpire clothing distribution prior to the tournament
Respond to requests from US Open Umpires by coordinating with office staff
Who You Are
Proficient English fluency; fluency in other languages is a plus
Ability to interact with a diverse group of officials and staff to provide the highest level of customer service
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Basic math and counting skills
Able and willing to lift boxes and sort inventory of uniforms and tennis balls
Competency with MS Word, MS Excel, and Google Workspace
Professional, courteous communications - verbal and written
Able to remain calm in a focused and fast paced and sometimes stressful environment
Comfortable walking and standing for extended periods of time
Knowledge of Tennis is preferred but not required
Must be available to work entire duration of the US Open (August 19th - September 8th) except Aug 24-25
Pay Rate $17 per hour; Overtime eligible (over 40hrs within work week) at $25.50
Daily meal allowance of $50 from Aug 18-Sept 8 via credential
