Hello,
We live in Penfield, NY in our own home. We are seeking a weekend Home Health Care/Companion for my Mom (age 87).
Please do NOT reply if you cannot meet our needs.
Saturdays and Sundays, 10 AM - 4 PM. There will be more hours available down the road.
This position is paid through the NYS PPL/CDPAP Program.
If you are not certified already, you must be willing to become certified through Burd Home Health.
We can help guide you through this process.
We are looking for someone ASAP.
Here is the kind of care/companionship needed:
Help getting up and getting ready for the day. This includes assistance/reminders for dressing,
brushing teeth, washing hands/face, and providing breakfast and morning pills, and brushing
hair into a pony tail.
Straighten her bedroom, living area, bathroom area and kitchen area.
Companionship to help provide a meaningful day with things to do (crafts, tv, small walks,
sit outside on our patio, conversation, and whatever else you think might be nice to do with her).
Providing her afternoon pill with a light lunch snack.
Guide her through her daily exercises
Encourage drinking throughout the day
Quietly monitor when she walks to the bathroom and be there for her if she needs any assistance
in the restroom, or when walking in general; and toileting hygiene
Be a calming influence when she gets anxious
Here is what we need from the Home Health Aid/Companion:
Be comfortable speaking and understanding the English language
Be PPL certified already, or be willing to become certified
Have reliable transportation every weekend, including in the Winter
Committed to every weekend
Be on-time
Be comfortable making our Mom and her homecare your priority
Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and kind
How does this work?
- Your hours will be paid through NY Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) - PPL.
- You will have the option of being paid with a live check or direct deposit.
- You will have the option of being taxed on this income or not.
- The hourly rate is set by New York State, and is based upon the needs of the specific individual receiving
home care. For my Mom, your hourly rate would be $18.10 (pre-tax).
- We have a nurse-approved daily checklist that you follow to ensure Mom's needs are being met on a
consistent basis.
