This person shall lead worship by providing music for the services of the congregation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare and perform music for weekly Sunday morning worship services, including: prelude, offertory, postlude, hymn accompaniment and other service music as appropriate. Organist is expected to be at all services at least 15 minutes before worship begins.

Prepare and perform music for special services, including: Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Thanksgiving Eve, when applicable.

Work with the pastor to choose appropriate music for liturgy and congregational singing.

Direct the congregational choir to provide regular musical offerings.

Direct the bell choir to provide occasional musical offerings as able.

Arrange for a substitute when unable to play and to provide necessary service music to that substitute.

Regarding matters of worship, this position shall answer to the pastor. For other matters (contractual or personnel), the organist shall answer the Executive Committee.

This is a part-time position paid a monthly salary. Expect around five hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in organ and piano.

Able to coordinate and direct a choir.

An ability to work collaboratively and be a positive member of the community.

Familiarity with liturgy preferred.

COMPENSATION

Four personal days off per year. (Two vacation Sundays and two sick days.)

Use of the organ and piano for offering lessons (pending relevant background check.)

The right of first refusal for services such as weddings and funerals.

Salary will be $200 - $225 per week, depending on qualifications and experience.
