BASIC FUNCTION: To maintain high nursing standards while working in a supportive role under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Responsible for providing direct resident care such as bathing, grooming, nourishment, and general comfort level. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Education:

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

6-month experience is preferred.

Certification:

A current New York State C.N.A. Certification required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

The Certified Nursing Assistant will provide safe and efficient therapeutic assistance with all aspects of resident’s bath and personal care to assure basic hygiene needs are met.

The Certified Nursing Assistant will obtain and record accurate objective resident data.

The Certified Nursing Assistant will assist with resident activity by using correct body mechanics.

The Certified Nursing Assistant will assure the nutritional needs of the residents are met.

The Certified Nursing Assistant will perform delegated resident care activities ensuring that each activity complies with proper care protocols and that each is accurately performed.

The Certified Nursing Assistant will maintain a clean, safe environment for the resident and the staff by adhering to the policies and procedures as outlined in the Ellis Hospital Safety Manual, Ellis Center Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual, Ellis Center Infection Control Manual, Standards and Guidelines for Hazard Communications, Blood-borne pathogens, Tuberculosis, and Ergonomics.

The Certified Nursing Assistant will demonstrate continuous improvement (in-service hours, training and programs, recertification, and identify learning needs and participate in activities and programs).

The Certified Nursing Assistant will adhere hospital/nursing facility policies and procedures related to:

Mandatory education

Annual health assessment

Customer relations

Salary Range: $16.65-$22.37/hour
