DAY ONE BENEFITS Under the direct supervision of the MRI Senior Technologist and the MRI Medical Director, the MRI Staff Technologist is responsible for the safe operation and performance of diagnostic examinations in accordance with established protocols utilizing the MRI scanner and equipment. Position requires unusual amount of communications and interactions with both patients and professional staff. Independence of action, effective communications, and a high degree of responsibility and integrity are essential to this position. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

Graduate of an approved Radiology Technology school with current ARRT registry and possessing a current New York State license of Radiologic Technology.

One year ARRT registry in MRI preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

IV certification.

Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology and the principles of MRI to safely and efficiently operate MRI scanners, assisting in the diagnosis of disease and injury.

Ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors who come in contact with MRI Department ZONES and the powerful magnetic field of a MRI scanner.

Explain procedures, answer patients' questions as fully as possible and provide emotional support putting people at ease with claustrophobic and anxious patients.

Screen patients

Position patients and use appropriate coils.

Guide and monitor patients during scans and pre/posttest inpatients.

Recognize and respond to life-threatening situations.

Assist in the education of other medical professionals and new staff.

Track, scan, verify studies and complete all required paperwork associated with such.

Monitor PACS for Problem Studies, Call Reports as measure of default when dedicated person unable.

Document on requisition needed information.

Correct Positioning of patients.

Must keep up to date with MRI protocols.

Must be able to and willing to rotate out of shift assignments for the greater good of the department, work weekends when scheduled or needed or change of shift when needed. Salary Range: $33.71-50.56 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

Responsibilities: Must be able to problem solve and troubleshoot issues independently or go the proper channels to follow thru so task is complete. Able to and willing to work independently in all areas of the diagnostic radiology department particularly in the operating room, with portable x-ray machinery, and with c-arm equipment. Competent and willing to participate in all OR procedures and capable of doing them independently. Must be capable of operating all radiographic rooms and all equipment including the fluoroscopy, portables, c-arms and diagnostic radiographic equipment. Track, scan, verify studies and complete all required paperwork associated with such. Monitor PACS for Problem Studies, Call Reports as measure of default when dedicated person unable. Document on requisition appropriate needed information such as time of exam, how many images, clinical info, room of exam and initials of staff participating in exam. Read doctor\'s notes as to why exam is being performed, prep patient for diagnostic imaging exam, take histories, explain procedure to patient and correct positioning of patients. Prepare solutions for patients to drink. Barium, contrast agents. Utilize shielding as necessary for patient and staff. Stay keep up to date on department and hospital policies, department protocols, radiographic study protocols, and hospital work rules. Must be able to and willing to rotate out of scheduled room assignments and possibly shift assignments for the greater good of the department. Willing to participate in shift rotation and have flexibility to work weekends when scheduled or needed or change of shift when needed. Must be able to and abide by mandate list and willing to rotate thru other campuses as required or needed. All technologists must be a role model for the department of radiology, mentoring and teaching radiologic technology students from affiliated x-ray programs.
