Connect with a recruiter at: recruitment@ellismedicine.orgThe acute care cardiovascular registered nurse cares for patients who have undergone pre and post heart catheterization, mitral clips, watchmen devices, ablations, heart arrythmia treatments, CHF and those patients pre-CABG procedures. The cardiovascular telemetry unit also encompasses a specialized cardiac care step-down unit that will allow the Registered Nurse to expand on their skills. Cross-training is available between the cardiac telemetry unit and specialized cardiac care step-down unit. The specialized cardiac care nurse will care for patients who have undergone TAVRs, vascular procedures such as fem-pop bypasses and carotid endarterectomies, and will become proficient in temporary transvenous pacemakers and arterial lines. BASIC FUNCTION: The Registered Professional Nurse cares for patients by diagnosing and treating their responses to actual or potential health problems in the acute care setting through implementation of the nursing process. Coordinates care of other disciplines, delegates tasks to other nursing personnel, supervises care, provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Maintains competence in clinical practice and assists in the development of nursing practice standards through participation in professional committees and organizations. REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of accredited RN program required. Current licensure in NYS or eligibility for limited permit to practice is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred and candidates without a BSN will be required to complete the degree depending on previous experience and specific position applying for. Acute care experience preferred. Current BLS is required. Current certification in ACLS, PALS and NRP may be required depending on unit scope. Board Certification preferred.GUIDING BEHAVIORS:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Completes patient assessment using subjective and objective data sources. Evaluates assessment data and establishes nursing diagnoses. Prioritizes patient needs including physiological, social, psychological, spiritual, age specific and selects diagnoses which can be reasonably addressed in the acute care episode. Develops an individualized PCP based on patient assessment using nursing practice standards and protocols, realistic measurable outcomes/goal and timeframes for goal achievement according to patient condition and age. Delivers patient care as outlined in the PCP and patient response to interventions. Assigns patient care tasks to and observes care given by non-RN staff members. Evaluates patient care and assesses the level and timeliness of outcome achievement utilizing input from pertinent members of the healthcare team, including patient/family. Communicates the patient’s plan of care to all members of the healthcare team and including the medical record. Organizes and communicates nursing care assignments/tasks/responsibilities based upon patient acuity/need and staff education/skill/job description. Assesses patient teaching needs as part of the initial and ongoing assessment, sets goals and develops teaching plans consistent with the patient’s educational level, learning readiness, and age. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to implements and /or coordinates the teaching plan focusing on wellness, health maintenance and restoration. Provides a safe environment based upon patient condition and age. Assumes responsibility for education and self- development. Participates in nursing performance improvement and interdisciplinary research and study activities as required. Adheres to institutional policies and procedures.

Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

  • Basic Function: The Critical Care Tech will work in a supportive role performing patient related services under the direction of the Registered Nurse with an emphasis on the Critical Care Technician needs of the unit. Provides clerical functions for the operation of a nursing unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse and provides patient care needs when necessary based on the nursing manager/designee’s discretion. An integral component consists of strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on collaboration with support services, physicians, patients, and patients’ families. Technical tasks involve utilizing computer skills efficiently on an ongoing basis. Education/Experience Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent thereof. Previous experience with Nursing Unit operations and medical terminology is also preferred. Responsibilities: Perform assigned patient care activities and provide assistance with all aspects of patient\'s bath and personal care. Obtain and record objective patient data and pt. care activities performed on the appropriate form in the Medical Record. Knowledgeable of age-specific normal ranges for young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Provide direct, continuous visualization of cardiac rhythms on the monitoring system as assigned. Assist with patient activity using correct body mechanics and transfer techniques. Assist with providing patient nourishment. Perform one to one observation for patient protection and communicate observations. Perform a 12 lead electrocardiogram (EKG). Maintain a clean, safe environment for the patient and will assist in maintaining a neat, well-organized work area. Be prepared to respond to code situations. Enter physician orders in the computer, except medication orders and utilize effective verbal communication skills including use of telephone. In collaboration with nurse manager, continuously monitor supplies to ensure availability. Maintain medical records on the unit.€‹€‹€‹€‹€‹€‹
