Req Number 138157Job DescriptionPerforms routine clerical tasks related to the Pathology laboratory.Job Responsibility1.Receives specimens from internal/external suppliers. May retrieve specimens from other hospital departments, as required.2.Accessions patient specimens into laboratory computer system. Enters patient demographics and relevant information into laboratory computer system.3.Enters other components into department computer system.4.Triages specimen for handling or release.5.Processes specimen using designated equipment.6.Performs designated equipment maintenance including cleaning, emptying waste, and replenishing supplies, as required.7.Maintains inventory of reagents and other supplies. Places orders for supplies through department computer system.8.Responds to inquiries regarding specimen handling, test results, patient preparation, problem specimens, etc.9.Operates Pathology equipment, as needed.10.Prepares, distributes and files reports, as requested.11.Performs related duties, as required.Job Qualification1.High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
