The Project Engineer manages job controls to ensure compliance with the contract, budget, schedule, job costing, forecasting, quantities, and billings. He or she must communicate pertinent information to the proper individuals in a timely and effective manner. Essential Functions
Manage cost reporting and projections
Organize and track all change orders
Review, analyze, and update the project schedule in conjunction with the PM and area staff
Understand the critical path of the project and communicate the information to the necessary individuals
Update the equipment schedule with input and assistance from the PM and Superintendents
Maintain current project status and pertinent field activities to be communicated during project reviews
Cross-train engineers and field staff in multiple disciplines and create a collaborative environment between engineers
Maintain communication and work with owners, vendors, subcontractors, and members of the project team
Draft and maintain written correspondence with owner and vendors
Coordinate the RFI process and work with field engineers/superintendents on the draft for final review
Supervise routing of drawings and transmittal approval
Maintain records as required regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
Manage and develop field engineering personnel

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of previous engineering experience working in all aspects of large heavy/highway construction projects (Structures, Bridges, Underground, Earthwork, and Concrete Paving)
Medium to Large project experience ($25M+) is required
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline is preferred
Strong leadership skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Work independently as well as part of a team
Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pick-up truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required to perform job duties
Must be able to climb up and down ladders and scaffolding to gain access to work and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the construction site
