Description An up-and-coming firm in the Healthcare, Hospitals, Social Assistance industry has teamed up with Robert Half to find an efficient Staff Accountant to join their team. As a Staff Accountant, you'll be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. When it's time for the monthly close, you'll be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. This position will also require you to participate in compliance, as well as communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, this company is offering a short-term contract / temporary to permanent opportunity that's sure to challenge as well as reward effort.Your responsibilities in this role

Participate in various department-wide initiatives

Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision

Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed

Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process Requirements - Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

Skilled with ERP systems

Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Foundational knowledge in general ledger

Strong familiarity with financial reconciliation

Solid understanding of grant accounting

Expertise in Full Cycle Payroll

Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines

Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

High attention to detail

Recent and relevant accounting experience

Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
