Wells Fargo is seeking a Strategy & Planning Director to join the Commercial Banking Strategy team. The Commercial Banking (“CB”) Strategy team works with CB senior leadership team to develop the business’ short, medium, and long-term strategy, partners with business teams and functional areas (both within Commercial Banking and across Wells Fargo) to identify, scope, size, and decision business opportunities and develop solutions, and leads the delivery of CB’s most significant, complex, or cross-business strategic priorities. The team also serves as a thought partner and counsel to Commercial Banking’s senior leaders.In this role, you will:
Lead the delivery of key Commercial Banking strategic priorities/initiatives, providing principal-level strategic consulting services and thought-leadership to CB’s businesses and functional areas.
Lead the day-to-day management of team(s) driving those initiatives and deliver solutions that are fit-for-purpose, long-term, large-scale, and require vision, creativity, innovation, and advanced analytical and inductive thinking.
Manage CB Strategy’s relationship with, including the intake and delivery of its services, to a portfolio of CB’s business or functional areas.
Lead the day-to-day administrative management of a pool of CB Strategy resources and contribute actively to CB strategy’s stature and internal culture.
Develop more junior team members, drive a culture of talent development.
Interact regularly with executive management from Commercial Banking, Corporate Strategy, Digital, and Innovation, and Wells Fargo more broadly.
Participate and represent the Commercial Banking Strategy team in enterprise and large-scale strategy and planning processes.
Partner closely with the most senior leaders in Commercial Banking (“CB”) to surface, scope, size, and decision business opportunities and develop strategic and business cases and plans.
Review and analyze complex larger-scale or longer-term challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including market trends, financial opportunity, competitive landscape, intangibles or unprecedented factors.
Communicate opportunities, data insights , strategy, and related solutions/business plans to CB executive management.
Make decisions in complex situations that influence and lead the broader work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives.
Partner closely with other functions (e.g., Business Management, Finance).
Collaborate strategically and consult with all levels to resolve issues and achieve goals.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of Strategy and Planning experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
4+ years of Management experience
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in management consulting at a top-tier firm or strategic consulting roles at medium- or large-scale organizations.
Experience leading projects or workstreams in fast-paced environments that involve multiple stakeholders, and partnering with cross-functional teams to define and implement strategies.
Demonstrated executive presence, high energy, and ability to manage complexity and a broad scope of daily work activities.
Ability to seamlessly engage with “big picture” thinking while embracing detailed analysis.
Fluency with quantitative analytical approaches and ability to communicate quantitative insights clearly to all levels.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, and organizational and prioritization skills
Understanding of financial services and ideally of commercial banking, or demonstrated track record of being able to develop expertise in new topics quickly.
Undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution; graduate degree preferred.
Job Expectations:
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Pay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location.
