Our key clients include the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Agriculture, Department of Transportation, and the Department of Homeland Security.This full-time position will be located in Reston, VA or Durham, NC (with flexibility for telework considered) and is available immediately.Job Responsibilities :As an Economics Analyst, you will provide applied research and consulting services in support of national-level programs focused primarily on addressing a variety of policy issues. You will provide a wide range of support services to improve the effectiveness of regulatory and non-regulatory programs and assess their costs, benefits, and economic impacts.Specific duties may include:

Conduct research and analysis on policy issues, on a variety of topics such as transportation, security, labor, health, and environmental protection.

Perform cost-benefit, economic modeling, statistical/econometric, or other quantitative analyses to assess the impacts of regulations, policies, and programs.

Develop analytical methods, databases, and models using Excel, R, or other software to quantify costs, benefits, or other regulatory impacts.

Provide general program support, such as data collection, literature review, report writing, and presentation preparation.

You will work in collaboration with senior and junior staff within a multidisciplinary team that includes economists, scientists, and engineers. You will also have direct contact with clients and will contribute to expanding our business.Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant work experience (or a Master’s degree) in economics, public policy, science, or a related discipline with strong quantitative skills and an outstanding academic record.

1+ year experience in MS Office applications, particularly Excel. Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and modeling approaches and scripting software (e.g., R, Stata, Python).

Preferred qualifications:Demonstrated skills (through employment or academic coursework) in the following areas: economic and policy analysis methods; working with economic data; model development and application.Prior consulting experience is highly desirable.Professional skills:

As this is a client-facing role, excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.

Very strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently and to apply a variety of technical skills and innovative thinking to solve problems.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Familiarity with regulatory and policy analysis frameworks and tools, such as cost-benefit analysis and economic impact analysis.

Knowledge of or exposure to data visualization and dashboarding software, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.
