Description: The primary purpose of the position is to perform and provide a variety of business, fiscal, and administrative functions for the unit. These duties will include preparation of budget documents and reports; the knowledge and use of office technology to support the unit’s mission; compiling records, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, and faculty personnel files; posting information; referring calls and assisting clients in questions pertaining to the status of internal salary authorization forms.Primary Function of Organizational Unit: The office of EHRA Salary & Budget Administration serves as a support unit for the Division of Academic Affairs and the EHRA employees of each school/college, department and division of the university in terms of budget issues. This unit has responsibility for maintaining compliance with the Division ‘s operational budgets and salary budgets for all EHRA positions funded by general appropriations from the state. This includes continuous interaction with the Schools/Colleges and Divisions of Academic Affairs, Division of Human Resources, and maintaining faculty credentialing and budgetary files related to SACS , Promotion and Tenure, and Post-tenure compliance. The office also monitors the usage of salary reserve funds, lapsed salaries, release time funding, and the faculty recruiting and retention funds. The unit also coordinates and assists in the salary budget processes of all EHRA non-state funding resources, including summer sessions. Reporting directly to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, the unit works closely with the Provost and Deans on matters pertaining to the UNC mandated Phased Retirement program for the tenured faculty of the university. The office maintains up-to-date files with respect to legislation impacting budgets related to Academic Affairs and advises the Vice Provost on new actions with an HR or operational impact on the Division. Analytical reports and presentations aligned with the strategic budgetary plans for the Division are required at Dean’s and Administrative Council meetings.Internal job number: 000952Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
