RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is immediately seeking an experienced VMware Site Reliability Engineer for our enterprise networking and cloud solutions client in Raleigh, North Carolina (NC).
Summary:
VMware Site Reliability Engineers are responsible and take ownership for reliability, scalability, automation, and other issues related to uptime and availability of our on-premise (VMware) cloud. The VMware Site Reliability Engineer will design, develop, and troubleshoot very large and complex VMware environments. They will work in a team of very talented engineers that support an extremely large VMware environment in our client's IT division.
REQUIREMENTS:
5-7 years of experience
VMware vSphere 6.x and 7.x experience
VMware VrOps experience for alerts
Ability to troubleshoot VMware ESXi and vSphere at high level
Experience with VMware virtual switching and possibly distributed virtual switches
Experience with VMware automation using Ansible, PowerShell, or Python
Experience using Git, Gerrit, and Jenkins
Experience operating in an SRE team and understanding SRE concepts
Desired Skills:
VMware and Linux Certifications
Ability to help improve our operational practices to minimize service disruptions
Experience with Software Defined Lifecycle frameworks
Able to identify issues proactively and develop automation to fix and verify those changes
Experience with tools like Elasticsearch, Splunk, Logstash, Nagios, Grafana, Graphite, InfluxDB, StatsD, and CollectD
Understanding of network basics like routers and switches
Cisco ACI and Cisco distributed virtual switch experience is a plus
Ability to maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health
