Description:

Positions available in small businesses using goats to remove vegetation and brush,

Position includes tasks related to bringing goats to customers as well as animal care and pasture maintenance.

During summer months, work can sometimes be hot and buggy. It can also be fun, especially if you like animals and being active during your workday. The goats are very tame and whole neighborhoods enjoy the goats!

Typical Tasks:

Animal loading and transport,

Clearing brush and installing portable electric fencing.

Use of weed whackers, mower, brush cutter, and other landscaping tools.

Mulch spreading.

Representing business to customers and the public,

Animal care and feeding.

Farm maintenance

Applicant Requirements:

1. MUST pay attention to detail. The work itself is not rocket science, but ensuring that the trailer is properly hooked up, the fences are properly charged and installed, and the goats are safe is ESSENTIAL to the job and the business.

2. MUST be proactive and enjoy working as part of a small team (usually with 1-3 other people). This means learning the tasks and jumping in to get things done rather than waiting o be told to perform each task.

3. MUST be dependable. Our customers schedules weeks in advance and usually at least two people are needed on the job, so if someone doesn't show up, we have to cancel the job for that day.

4. MUST have some flexibility and be able to work weekends some of the time. We can schedule around specific days should you need time off/have special events, but in general the work happens both weekdays and weekends and we need someone who has some flexibility in these regards.

5. MUST have car, driver's license, and good driving history (no exceptions).

6. MUST have a phone (no exceptions).

7. MUST be able to lift 50 lbs.

8. MUST be able to tolerate working outside in the heat/cold (the jobsite workload falls off a bit during the winter months, but there is still goat care and pasture maintenance to be done during this time).

9. Experience driving a truck with a trailer AND backing up trailer is a big plus!

PLEASE NOTE:

Working around poison ivy is unavoidable in this job. We are very careful about washing tools and all the surfaces that have come in contact with poison ivy and expect everyone to follow these same precautions. However if your are allergic to the point of requiring hospitalization this job may no be a good fit for you.

HOURS/PAY

3-5 days a week depending on availability. Generally 7-8 hours per day. $17 to start, Increase based on reliability and performance.
