Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Material Handler / Shear Operator with a strong understanding of scrap metal preparation for steel mills. The ideal candidate will have experience in identifying ferrous and non-ferrous metals and preparing material for shipping.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain shearing equipment to prepare scrap materials according to steel mill requirements.
Identify, sort, and process ferrous and non-ferrous metals with precision and efficiency.
Safely load and unload materials.
Inspect materials for quality and compliance with specifications.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a material handler, shear operator, or similar role in a scrap processing environment.
Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metal identification and preparation techniques.
Ability to safely operate heavy equipment such as shears, loaders, and material handlers.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to work in an outdoor or industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of forklift operation or other heavy equipment.
Knowledge of steel mill specifications and requirements for scrap material.
Experience with basic maintenance of shearing equipment.
