The Operations Manager will manage civil utility and grading projects and act as the liaison between East Coast Contracting, Inc. and the customer. The Operations Manager is responsible for scheduling and managing daily activities and issues related to completing a project, including overall project planning, scheduling, project cost accounting, quality control, contract administration, safety management, material take-offs, labor and equipment and employee resources, and customer relationships.
Responsibilities:
Supervise day to day workflow of multiple jobs while maximizing productivity, minimizing costs, and maintaining safety and quality
Work with owners, engineers, surveyors, inspectors to build the project to local specifications and satisfactory of the owners.
Maintain schedules, budgets and work closely with VP and estimators to monitor all work being performed is on schedule and budget.
Coordination and procurement of permits and local inspections
Schedule all transportation of equipment, materials and crews.
Reviews and compiles operations records such as safety reports, equipment and tool inspections and equipment and supply usage
Perform weekly safety and schedule meetings to make sure the teams are being safe at all times and completing the task given to them.
Recruitment, interviewing, hiring and training employees
Employee assessment and performance and resolving employee problems
Requirements:
Bilingual speaking candidate needed but not mandatory
Related bachelor's degree, preferably in Construction Management
3-6 years of directly related leadership experience with civil site, grading and utilities construction background general contractor experience, preferred
Strong consultative, organizational, and communication skills
Previous site management with utility and grading experience as well as experience maintaining a good relationship with the client and suppliers
Hands-on experience with directing the activities of contractors and crews for civil and site construction
Ability to read engineering drawings
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Project
Skills/Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge of the purchasing of materials and processes, vendor negotiations and pricing, and industry takeoff procedures and methods
Knowledge and understanding of the performance criteria and construction standards of each trade partner.
Ability to train and explain construction plans.
Ability to train and coach the basic materials and methods to ensure compliance with company construction standards.
Ability to respond and train other personal how to read, interpret, and resolve inconsistencies and problems in construction plans and specifications.
Excellent organization skills and possesses the ability to multi-task
Be professional in dress, manners, and conduct
Advanced Knowledge of construction safety practices
Experience in solving complex construction problems in a production environment.
Ability to get along well with others; be empathetic and lead by example.
Ability to make quick and accurate decisions when necessary and take responsibility for decisions.
Ability and experience in dealing with engineers, architects, and designers on design problems.
Strong leadership skills
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
Computer literate
Must have a valid driver’s license
Experience leading crews and subcontractors
