Truck Shop Technician

This position assists in the maintenance and repair of all vehicles used by the Beet Fleet.

Essential Job Duties

Knowledge in rebuilding/diagnostics/repair of key components of truck repairs

Use electronic equipment to read component ECM’s and read information for correct repairs

Service and repair transportation equipment to meet DOT requirements

Proper use of scan tools provided

Acquire a DOT inspectors rating after 6 months for MN inspections (state requirement)

Within one year of employment, test and successfully obtain a Class A CDL drivers license

Proper mounting techniques for all tire repair and changes

Proper torque sequences of tire securement to vehicles

Welding skills to correctly fix and adjust trailer cage and release mechanism

Complete administrative tasks, duties, and reports as required in a timely manner

Proper skill set to measure fine wear measurements with micrometers and record them correctly

Good attendance, safety, disciplinary, and overall employment records

Other duties as required by the business and directed by the Beet Fleet Operations/Service Manager

Adhere to all company policies and all safety, food safety, feed safety, and sanitation rules and programs

Qualifications

Diesel Trade school degree or 3 years (minimum) of actual shop experience

National Brake test in file or able to take test and qualify for certification

Ability to run laptop programs and update annually

A.S.E. National testing in at least 4 major components

Ability to read and write

Maintain Quality and Safety

Prepare routine paperwork

Read, count, sort, check and verify numbers

Able to perform simple math

Embrace teamwork

Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel

Organized with excellent time management skills

Ability to communicate effectively and work cohesively with employees at all levels

Physical Demands and Expectations

Normal posture – sitting

Climbing stairs

Climbing in and out of trucks

Driving trucks and pickups

Stoop

Kneel

Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to work in extreme temperatures (-20 below to 100 Fahrenheit)
