The NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards are a set of mandatory cybersecurity standards designed to protect the Bulk Electric System (BES) from cyber threats. About the IT Standards AnalystAs an IT Standards Analyst on the Reliability Standards team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining adherence to these standards. IT Standards Analysts are responsible for maintaining, assessing, and improving the compliance posture for FirstEnergy Systems and processes, focusing primarily on the NERC CIP Standards and NERC 693 Reliability Standards.Examples of possible job duties and responsibilities of an IT Standards Analyst Intern:
Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of FE compliance procedures and evidence documentation related to the NERC CIP and NERC 693 Standards
Performing scheduled maintenance activities associated with regulatory requirements and creating evidence documentation used to demonstrate compliance
Performing and supporting internal compliance controls
Participating in compliance investigations and documenting root cause analysis
Creating and executing reports containing compliance data
Supporting self-certifications, data submittals, and compliance audits
Applicant Requirements:
Currently enrolled, full time, in a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university/college focusing on Computer Science, Cyber Security, Engineering, Legal, or Business-related degree
Class Standing – Rising Junior
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Must have the ability to work without sponsorship (now or in the future)
Preferred Skills/Experience
Ability to think technically, research, analyze and document results
Strong communication skills to effectively annotate findings in both written and oral form
Ability to effectively work on multiple concurrent tasks and meet deadlines
Proficient experience with personal computer hardware, operating systems, and application software (office productivity tools)
Ideal Candidate :
Highly motivated to work independently, utilizing virtual technologies, and learn quickly
Must be organized and work well with priority changes
Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects
