General Statement of DutiesThe Department of Buildings & Inspections is seeking to fill a mid-level position with a focus on strong software development skills. The position will provide excellent technical, analytical, and software development support in various CAGIS enterprise programs including geographic information systems (GIS) and permitting business software. The position duties encompass skills and technical expertise in multiple areas including enterprise software configuration, software development, and user support using various software tools. The individual will also develop new solutions, reports, scripts, performance metrics, etc. along with providing application administration and support to internal and external customers.   • Position: Aircraft Systems Engineer I Locations: Cincinnati, OH Description: The Aircraft Systems Engineer I is an entry level engineer educated in the integration and optimization of various avionics systems who is responsible for the design, integration and implementation of electrical and avionics systems for various aircraft types. Job duties include analyzing system requirements and defining design specifications for various avionics subsystems and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers, and other specialists, to achieve successful system integration. Primary Responsibilities: Integration of avionics and electrical systems and equipment System level design, detail electrical design, and installation design. Research and identify potential solutions to meet design objectives. Generate engineering documentation in accordance with company procedures and policies to meet project requirements and objectives including but not limited to engineering reports, wire harness diagrams, electrical wire routing, electrical schematic design, electrical loads analysis, test plans, and test reports. Solve real-world challenges. Documents work by maintaining files for each job. Creates component to aircraft system integration drawings and designs to be presented to FAA Designated Engineering Representatives(s) (DER) that are satisfactory for approval. Remains cognizant of the status of aircraft programs assigned. Maintains awareness of anticipated irregularities that might contribute to or create a delay and notifies management and customers of all delay risks. Keeps Program Manager assigned current with status reports of all projects in work. Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues and informs the appropriate managers of possible issues at the earliest opportunity which might be detrimental to team spirit or the motivation of staff. Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Prepares a variety of written correspondence and periodic and special reports regarding work performed. Perform other related duties as may be assigned. Required Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of aircraft integration of avionics and communication systems. Knowledge of systems engineering design concepts and techniques. Experience in change and configuration management. Detail-oriented approach with a high level of accuracy in documentation and compliance Must be a team player with the innate ability to help the Engineering team achieve success and exceed customer expectations. Ability to work in a hybrid company office/home office on a frequent basis. Memory for detail, capacity for supporting team members to remain on path. Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand the English language. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and engineering documentation. Ability to support remote modifications with travel and on-site technical expertise on an occasional basis both domestically and internationally as may be required. Ability to communicate in a professional, motivating and tactful manner. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Systems, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering AND a minimum of 1- year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Detailed working knowledge of aircraft manuals and drawings and the content required for FAA certification. Good understanding of FAA regulations and ability to design for compliance. Demonstrated solid understanding of commercial avionics interface standards and their installation. High levels of computer literacy and ability and be proficient with different computer programs including Autodesk, SolidWorks, and MS Office. Must have a valid passport and driver’s license. Must be able to pass a background check. Must be legally able to work in USA and supply required supporting documentation.
