Specialist 2 (HVAC)

The Senior Technician maintains and enhances District's facilities, as assigned, by performing skilled and semi-skilled work in a manner which results in a high-quality product consistent with District policies.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform master level skill/trade work in the HVAC trade.

2. Performs considerable skilled work in a responsible manner by exercising independent judgment and demonstrates initiative, creativity and leadership. Reports task accomplishments to supervisors and anticipates problems.

3. Performs complex mechanical repairs and rebuilding work on equipment beyond first echelon of maintenance.

4. Instructs/trains other employees in the trade/skill or operation of a wide range of tools/equipment.

5. Coordinates and completes construction renovation projects and extensive repair work of facilities.

6. Operates and maintains at least two pieces of the following equipment:

a. Trucks; tractors; farm and light construction equipment; front-end loader; backhoe; hydraulic mowing equipment; utility vehicles; bulldozer; grader; aerial bucket; tree spade; stump cutter; special skilled-trade tools.

7. Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of HVAC systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.

8. Diagnoses causes of HVAC problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair.

9. Inspects HVAC systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.

10. Installs HVAC system components (e.g. furnaces, coils, condensers, thermostats, ventilators, timers, controls, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded HVAC capabilities.

11. Repairs HVAC components and/or systems (e.g. furnaces, coils, condensers, thermostats, ventilators, timers, controls, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition.

12. Maintain and reference industry standards including but not limited to IAPMO, ICC, NFPA, ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA 70e, ANSI, and State of Ohio HVAC Code.

13. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of five years documented HVAC experience (preferred) in light commercial/commercial environments.

Completion of an approved course in HVAC from an accredited technical school.

Valid Ohio driver's license.

Demonstrated ability to perform variable physical requirements of park maintenance work.

State of Ohio HVAC Contractors License or the ability to obtain one within 1 year of employment is highly preferred.

Must possess a valid EPA 608 Universal License.

Considerable experience in and knowledge of procedures, duties, equipment operation, calibration, and maintenance, which are ordinarily, obtained by extensive experience in a technical capacity.

Demonstrated ability to exhibit leadership consistent with teamwork approach that recognizes contribution of all.

Performs related duties as apparent or assigned.

Wage: $34.11 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; 6:00AM-2:30PM
