Overview
A Research Assistant is immediately available in Dr. Mingtao Zhao's laboratory in the Center for Cardiovascular Research at the Nationwide Children's Hospital/Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The Zhao lab is using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and functional genomics (single-cell genomics) to study the molecular and genetic mechanisms of cardiovascular development and congenital heart disease. Sucessful candidates are expected to perform human iPSC reprogramming and cardiac/vascular differentiation, and help PI maintain the routine laboratory management including writing IRB protocols, place lab orders, and coordinate with other labs in the Center for Cardiovascular Research. Candidates with experience in stem cell culture, organoid development, and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing will be given priority. The Center for Cardiovascular Research currently has a NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral program to provide interdisciplinary, translational, and state-of-the-art research training in congenital and acquired heart disease, partnered with the Ohio State University College of Medicine. The Abigail Wexner Research Institute is one of the largest pediatric research centers and consistently ranked among the top 10 for NIH funding among free-standing children's hospitals in the United States. In addition, Nationwide Children's Hospital is one of the nation's largest not-for-profit pediatric healthcare networks and is ranked 9th on the US News & World Report's "America's Best Children's Hospitals Honor Roll".
