Job Profile Name : Sr Director Financial Planning & AnalysisJob Code : 108005This role has a hybrid schedule and person hired will work 2 days/week at our Columbus, Ohio office location.relocation assistance availableJob SummaryThe Senior Director FP&A is responsible for the creation, validation, and implementation of the financial plan, including process, strategic design, and financial outcomes, as well as all planning for Segment initiatives in alignment with enterprise goals and priorities. The Senior Director FP&A performs as the strategic leader for the segment and alignment with NiSource enterprise and is a key integration point for NiSource to achieve its financial aspirations. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Creating and executing influence strategies that persuade key stakeholders to take action that will advance shared interest and business goals and priorities.
Using economic, financial, market, and industry data to understand and improve business results; using one’s understanding of major business functions, industry trends, and own organization’s position to contribute to effective business strategies and tactics.
Driving organizational and cultural changes needed to achieve strategic objectives.
Train, develop, coach, and select critical talent to gain sophistication for enterprise financial planning and regulatory capabilities.
Administer the business planning process including analytics and meaningful insights, including future impacts to regulatory construct and financial outcomes.
Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with others- establishing and maintaining good working relationships, navigate ambiguity and operate in a highly matrixed organization.
Utilizing financial data to diagnose business strengths and weaknesses and identify the implications for potential strategies, keeping a financial perspective in the forefront when making strategic decisions.
Prepare senior leadership for changes in the financial environment by developing upside and downside tactical analysis, risk-based plan scenarios, and direct analysis on root cause drivers of performance.
Support senior leadership with tracking progress against goals, preparation of board materials, and internal/external financial communications
Embrace long-term strategy and risk positioning for the enterprise and proactively identify optimization opportunities to position NiSource for long-term growth.
Securing and comparing information from multiple sources to identify business issues, facilitate business leader commitment to an action after weighing alternative solutions and important decisioncriteria.
Assessment of financial results and working with state leadership teams in planning the timing of future regulatory filings
Oversight, coordination and planning to ensure that the right resources are allocatedto regulatory initiatives.
Collaborate with state leadership teams on variance analysis for NiSource distribution companies, measuring performance against the financial plan as it relates to the demand forecast and other rate planning scenarios. Assess outcomes, identify underlying causes for over or under plan outcomes, and recommend solutions.
Integrates regulatory processes and provides project management support to ensure enterprise performance is optimized.
Ensures compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Required Qualifications for Position
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or otherbusiness-related field
10+ years of relevant business experience (e.g., forecasting, rate/regulatory services, accounting, etc.)
Regulatory, Legal and Financial acumen
Knowledge of rate theory, statutory regulations, application, and legislative process
Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate, seasoned judgement and decision-making ability.
Prior experience in a financial management role
Ability to manage and develop a team, and possessesteam buildingskills
Ability to work collaboratively with internal business partners and external stakeholders.
Excellent communication, presentation, consultation, and facilitation skills
Excellent leadership ability in a fast-paced, high-stress business environment. Able to effectively manage and execute tasks with multiple conflicting priorities.
Excellent financial analysis and modeling skills
Strong project management skills
Understanding of economics/econometric concepts
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Drive execution of activities supporting state regulatory strategies
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
MBA and/or CPA or advanced degree in financial or regulatory financial programs
Key knowledge of strategic, financial, and operational concepts of the electric, gas distribution and/or natural gas transmission/storage systems
Understanding of regulated recovery and components of a revenue requirement
Prior experience in a financial management role
Demand forecasting, rate/regulatory services, accounting experience in the utility industry
Experience testifying before regulatory agencies.
Experience working with state utility agency staff and other interested parties.
Policy-setting experience in a utility environment
