The SMS Strategy Lead is responsible to support driving SMS strategy through collaboration with Element Owners across key annual initiatives. Participate and support strategy planning sessions related to SMS maturity, road mapping development and conformance assessments. Facilitation of the Element Owner model through collaborative alignment meetings and development of meeting documentation. In accordance with the Element Owner model, SMS Strategy Lead will be responsible for the tracking of Element owner execution on defined element initiatives and identification of interdependencies. The SMS Strategy Lead will play a key role preparing Gas Segment organization for external/internal assessments, audits, and evaluations pertaining to health and maturity of SMS. SMS Strategy Lead will also be responsible for reviewing and drafting changes to NiSource SMS governance/process documents in accordance for NiSource SMS Maturity and API RP 1173. SMS Strategy Lead will collaborate with Element Owners, Initiative Owners, SMS Governance Manager, Manager SMS Execution, SMS Data Analytics and Reporting, SMS State Leads, Asset Program OwnersResponsibilities:Aggregating and preparing updates, reports, and presentations for Gas Segment Leadership based up Element Owner initiatives.Ensure Element Owner model structure is being matured and follows a cycle of continuous improvement.Ensure organization, discipline and structure of essential conformance documents including inventory of identified API RP1173 gaps.Support the alignment of SMS strategic goals and initiatives through key stakeholder engagement.Tracking Element Owner progress through the execution of the identified initiatives.Support maintaining a culture of safety and risk identification / mitigation.Qualifications:Required for Selection:Knowledge and understanding of American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practice (RP) 1173Ability to facilitate meetings / tables and achieve group consensusAbility to build strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externallyAbility to coach and provide guidance to State SMS teams on CAP processes and toolAbility to drive and monitor continuous improvement and associated change managementProactive in collaborating and leveraging interpersonal skills.Strong communication skills both written and oral.Experience with project planning and executionProven ability to prepare and present presentations at all levels of the internal organization and external associationsSupport SMS process consistency across the organizationEducation:Bachelors degree or equivalent work experiencePreferred for Selection:Knowledge of NiSource gas utility and field operationsContinuous Improvement experienceFamiliarity with Corrective Action Program and processRequired for Selection:Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel and PowerPointAbility to learn new systems and become proficient with them (e.g., CAP Tool, Tableau, think-cell, etc.)Preferred for Selection:Experience with NiSource business processes and tools / technologiesExperience developing, implementing, and/or executing a corrective action program or continuous learning programRequired for Selection:Analytical / critical thinking with proven business acumenStrong problem solving and decision-making skillsAbility to work independently with strong work ethic and attention to detailExcellent planning, organization, and verbal/written communication skillsEffective project management skills and ability to drive executionAbility to manage multiple projects and team participation at various states concurrently ensuring timely delivery and desired outcomesCollaboration for successCreating, maintaining and enhancing critical internal stakeholder relationshipsContribution to team successRelocation assistance is NOT available for this position.Value inclusion within your day to day responsibilities by respecting others perspectives/convictions, engaging others opinions, creating a safe environment where people, ideas, and opinions are valued within your Team/Customers and external partners.Respect and take into consideration diversity within your Team/Customers and external work partners by valuing different world views, challenges, and cultures that represent all walks of life and all backgrounds.Treat others with respect and consideration.
