JOB SPECIFICSWashington County Accounting and Finance department is currently hiring for a Financial Analyst II. The Financial Analyst II performs a variety of professional financial work in the maintenance, examination and processing of financial records within a department; position generally includes the responsibility for a computerized financial system or for the maintenance of financial records necessary to satisfy internal and external reporting requirements; reviews and analyzes budget and financial activities for a department in order to ensure compliance.Responsibilities include:

Process accounts payable

Manage virtual credit card program

Approve purchase card transactions and upload to accounting system

Process sales tax refund

Develop and improve specific financial procedures as assigned

Provide customer service

Communicate with department system users to provide instruction and training on system uses related to policies and procedures

Advise departments on methods and procedures relating to the financial aspects of their operation

Provide training or direction to Financial Systems Technicians and/or Financial Analyst I's

Perform other duties as assigned

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

Paid work experience in accounts payable including payment approval, transaction review, and reconciliation

Paid work experience with complex accounting software systems

Paid work experience preparing and analyzing financial reports

Accurate data entry with great attention to detail for financial tasks

Excellent communication and customer service skills to communicate with internal and external customers regarding financial inquires

SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.HOURS / DAYS: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a hybrid job with the majority of work performed remotely and in the office one day per week, and as needed. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs. Monitor departmental budget administration activities by reviewing and analyzing budget transactions such as expenditures, transfers, adjustments, staffing complement transactions and other departmental financial transactions Maintain financial records; assist in the preparation of the department budget Make recommendations to management regarding changes to department budget Serve as liaison to other county departments, State or Federal agencies in financial reporting matters Analyze, reconcile and adjust accounts, prepare journal entries to adjust or correct accounts Prepare and submit a variety of financial reports to state and federal agencies to ensure compliance Monitor grant receipts and disbursements to ensure compliance Develop and improve specific financial procedures as assigned Provide assistance to or serve as lead worker to other technical employees in the department or as assigned in the absence on the supervisor Daily communication with department system users to provide instruction and training on system uses and related policies and procedures Advise departments on methods and procedures relating to the financial aspects of their operation Provide training or direction to Financial Systems Technicians and/or Financial Analyst I's Perform other duties as assignedWORK ENVIRONMENT Work is sedentary in nature performed within the Government Center or satellite offices. Lifting requirement of 15-20 pounds on an occasional basis. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation due to high concentration of filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, calculator, telephone, copy and fax machine.
