JOB SPECIFICSRESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be working in the Taxpayer Services Division of the Property Records and Taxpayer Services Department at the County Government Center in Stillwater. We are looking for an energetic customer service skilled individual with multi-tasking abilities who works collaboratively with others. Responsibilities include assisting customers with a variety of transactions, including but not limited to, property tax collection and vital records birth, death, and marriage issuance, at our service counter and processing transactions received by mail. Responding to customer inquiries in person, by phone and email. Performing other division duties while multi-tasking to ensure daily responsibilities are completed.DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
Paid work experience providing excellent customer service in person and/or by phone in a public, government position.
Paid work experience applying basic accounting skills of verifying amount due; receipting money; balancing your own work transactions and the cashiering sessions of others; and problem solving.
Paid work experience answering phone calls on an automatic call distribution system while multitasking with daily work
Paid work experience requiring accurate data entry and proofing skills
Paid work experience using technology systems and software, including Microsoft Office products.
SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.HOURS / DAYS: 20 hours per week within the Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. timeframe. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs. Adheres to statutes, laws, and regulations; clarify interpretations of statutes laws, and regulations; and Collects, enters, scans, proofs, edits, corrects and verifies data in computer systems with or without established procedures or computer application. Processes, sorts, checks for accuracy, and files department materials, i.e.; forms, reports, licenses, certificates, deeds, applications, orders, vouchers, documents, legal instruments, or other materials in accordance with established routine and policy.Completes financial transactions: Process transactions, collect fees and process overpayments; Collects and records a variety of receipts and disbursements for various funds; and Compiles data and calculates various financial statistical reports;General office administration: Prepares memos, correspondence, forms, statistical data, reports; proofs for accuracy and makes corrections; Processes incoming and outgoing mail; and Prepares, maintains and files records.Perform other duties as assigned.WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is sedentary (sitting and/or standing) in nature performed within the Government Center or satellite offices. Lifting requirement of 15 - 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Work may require assisted lifting of equipment up to 80 pounds. Wrist and finger manipulation due to filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, , calculator, telephone, copy ,cash register, microfiche and fax machine, and bar code machine.
