Lead ranch hand position.
40 acre ranch. 25 horses. As the lead ranch hand, you will be the primary caretaker of the horses, equipment, hay management & grain supplies. 5 days a week, 10 hours a day.
MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT 100 POUND BALES OF HAY & STACK THEM. If you can’t do this, please don’t respond. This is an important ability for this position.
Responsibilities include:
Feed Barn, followed by Rescue Herd am
Apply Masks/Coats pending season/weather on all horses.
Prep grains & Hay cart for pm
Muck all outdoor corrals. Including loafing sheds.
Restock hay and grains.
Lead Barn horses to daily turnout pastures.
Fill waters in Barn & Herd tanks after turning horses out
Refresh, clean and fill Barn H20 daily.
Muck & clean Barn Stalls, replace/add pellets as needed.
Blow Barn aisle
Water the arena in am for riders & trainer days
Make gruel grains for Elders Ed & Buck, am, mid-day and pm
Fly spray as all horses on Sunday & Wednesday.
Keep Barracks stocked with Hay + Bins of loose hay from barn
Muck and refresh water in Barracks as needed
Clean water tanks in dry lots regularly, check H20 before EOD
Bring Horses in starting ETA 4p
Remove Fly Masks, put on coats pending season/weather
Feed barn & ranch herd pm
This is a live in position, compensation depends on experience, $2500 a month to start & included is the master bedroom with private bath in the ranch house. All utilities are included, so you will have no house bills, you’re only responsible for your personal bills. As of now the house is empty, but another ranch hand may move in depending if we find someone for part time. The monthly starting pay will go up after the first month if you show us motivation/drive/responsibility.
