Family Kitchen has been serving free meals to the community since 1986! Our volunteer-powered organization provides over 20,000 meals a month. This fall, we're looking to add a couple new staff members to the team!
The Volunteer Coordinator oversees the Family Kitchen volunteer program by engaging the community, identifying volunteers, and ensuring every meal shift has enough volunteers staffed to provide a high quality meal to our diners. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the systems, marketing, and communications used to ensure the reach and efficiency of Family Kitchen’s volunteer program.
In addition, this role oversees 2 - 3 weekly meal services in Bend, from production, to serving, to
clean up. Working with volunteer teams, the Volunteer Coordinator/Meal Coordinator will support food prep, answer
volunteer questions, uphold health and safety standards, oversee the dining room during meal
service, and serve nutritious meals to anyone in need in a safe and caring environment.
Required hours are:
Saturdays: 8 AM - 2 PM
Sundays: 11:30 AM - 5:30 PM
and at least one additional weekday, 2 - 7:30
This is a full-time, hourly position, with approximately 22 hours flexible/work from home.

● Represents the Family Kitchen program and mission to the community in a professional
manner;
● Demonstrates effective culinary skills in producing meals in bulk;
● Demonstrates excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills;
● Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective communication with a wide and
diverse range of people and organizations;
● Demonstrates strong organizational and flexible decision making skills;
● Demonstrates ability to work with empathy and compassion toward others;
● Demonstrates proven leadership skills.
● Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
● Advanced computer skills for documentation, signage, spreadsheets, online systems.
● Must be able to work occasional on-call shifts;
● Possess or have access to reliable transportation;
● Possesses or has the ability to obtain a Food Handler’s license;
● Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Experience managing volunteers
● First Aid Training
● Prior experience working with persons living in crisis
● Kitchen or restaurant experience is desirable
