Produce Manager

Since opening in 1991, Newport Avenue Market in Bend, Oregon, has been the No. 1 choice for specialty food items and a wide array of local, regional, and international foods. In 2015, we became Central Oregon's first employee-owned grocery store.

Newport Market is hiring a Produce Manager to become their next team member.

This position is responsible for product management, food safety, quality control, merchandising, sales generation, gross margins, labor and general expense control, employee development, work safety, customer service, and department profitability.

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

The right person for this role will have the following:

Current Food Handlers Permit.

Minimum three (3) years of retail produce experience.

Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Suite – Proficient in Excel

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and yield quality result, with deadlines. Responds with an

appropriate

"sense of urgency" when needed.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation, takes initiative, and problem-solving.

Proven ability to positively affect sales generation and manage expenses, including labor.

Possesses strong knowledge of food safety and HACCO/Department of Health guidelines, gross profit, inventory

control, and labor percentages. Proven experience working with each.

Possesses creative and effective merchandising and display skills.

Possesses comprehensive product information with a proven history of using knowledge to train.

Demonstrates strong knowledge and understanding of food, including ingredients, applications, pronunciations, and

culinary skills. Possesses a genuine passion for food.

Strong leadership skills and proven history of employee development. Ability to effectively delegate and follow

through.

Exceptional customer service skills.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability and willingness to interact and perform all job responsibilities professionally.

Understands and adheres to strict confidentiality guidelines.
