About the role:
The Assistant Director, UOAA Business Management serves as a key leader for the University of Oregon Alumni Association (UOAA), a separate 501(c)(3) organization. Acting as a liaison between the UOAA and the university, this role ensures smooth collaboration and effective financial management. Reporting to the Director of Compliance and UOAA Business Management, the Assistant Director oversees day-to-day financial operations for portfolios ranging from $100,000 to $22 million, including 60+ external accounts. This position is responsible for managing accounting cycles, including general ledger maintenance, revenue recognition, expenditures, assets, and liabilities, while ensuring compliance with university policies and nonprofit regulations.
What you will be doing:
Manage UOAA portfolios ranging from $100,000 to $22 million, including 60+ external association and chapter accounts.
Oversee accounting cycles, including general ledger maintenance, revenue recognition, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
Serve as the final approver of all financial transactions and entries within the system.
Ensure adherence to UOAA bylaws, university policies, GAAP, state and federal regulations, and data use/service agreements.
Liaise with the UOAA’s board budget and finance committee, as well as external state and federal agencies.
Supervise the accounting and gift/membership processing teams, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and month-end close processes.
Provide staff management and ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.
Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director.
Act as a principal liaison with the University of Oregon Foundation (UOF) finance, gift processing, and membership teams.
Deliver comprehensive budgetary reporting and analysis for supported units.
Actively participate in committees and working groups within the university, UOAA, and UOF.
Exercise signature authority for UOAA’s external bank accounts, expense accounts, and merchant accounts.
Respond to and prioritize ad hoc requests, providing timely and accurate information and analysis.
What we would like to see from you:
Bachelor's degree in a financial field.
Five years of experience in non-profit accounting, fiscal management, analysis budgeting, contractual work, or related specialty. Experience must include interpreting and applying FASB, GAAP, and IRS rules and standards.
Two years of supervisory experience OR five years of lead staff experience.

The anticipated budgeted salary is $80,000 - $93,000 DOE. Relocation assistance is available.
