Pay dependent on qualifications and in accordance with Oregon's Pay Equity Act.

Overview of Position:
The Permit Technician position performs a broad variety of technical, para-professional and customer service-related activities in the Community Services Division within the Development & Public Works Department. The position also performs administrative and clerical duties for the Division.
This position is considered entry-level in the Permit Technician class series. Initially, work is performed under close supervision and with time progression, incumbents are expected to become increasingly knowledgeable and proficient in their assignments while exercising sound judgement and making informed decisions. Incumbents work primarily in an office/reception environment with ongoing telephone and direct customer contact.
Within established guidelines and procedures, daily activities include building permit application intake and processing and review for accuracy and completeness. In addition to the Building Program, the incumbent will also work with Planning, Engineering, Code Enforcement and Administration.
Training & Experience:
The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include:
One year of specialized or technical training beyond high school and sufficient experience as necessitated by the competency level of the position:
One (1) year of experience performing customer service, or performing non-technical permitting, or clerical/administrative functions in support of permits, plan review or inspection processes. (Grade B21- Technician I)
Two (2) years of experience directly related to development, permitting, performing customer service and performing non-technical permitting, or clerical/administrative functions in support of permits, plan review or inspection processes. (Grade B22- Technician II)
Preferences may be given for knowledge and experience:
Ability to speak Spanish
Selection and Interview Process:
