Diesel Mechanic
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
-Perform routine and preventative maintenance services on all equipment (class 8 semi tractor/trailers)
-Communicate frequently with Shop Foreman/Manager on repairs needed
-Troubleshoot breakdowns and advise/repair as needed.
-Repair, adjust, or replace worn and damaged parts (all parts to include major components) as needed.
-Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and ensure vehicle in proper operating condition.
-Maintain safe and organized work area; keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions.
Required Qualifications
-Valid driver's license
-1 year of experience as diesel technician with practical experience in commercial class 8 truck repair field
-Demonstrated knowledge in identifying parts and components of diesel truck engines, transmissions, and braking mechanisms; proven ability to disassemble, work on, and reassemble diesel truck parts and machinery; ability to identify mechanical and electronic problems, and make repairs.
-Ability to meet physical demands of the job in safe and alert manner (job requires frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.)
-Proficient in use of all tools of trade; must have own hand tools
Preferred Qualifications
-Valid CDL
-OEM training and/or certifications. Cummins, CAT, Kenworth
