Cowhorn Kitchen & Wine is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Server to join our team. Situated in the heart of Jacksonville, Cowhorn offers a refined dining experience with exceptional farm-to-table cuisine and an award-winning wine list. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about food, wine, and exceptional service, with leadership skills to support our dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional service to guests, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience.
Take food and drink orders, relay them to the kitchen, and serve meals and beverages promptly and accurately.
Utilize your wine knowledge to assist guests in selecting wine pairings that enhance their meals.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional dining area and server stations.
Understand menu items, wine offerings, and daily specials to maximize guest satisfaction.
Process payments accurately and efficiently while adhering to cash handling procedures.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service operations.
Oversee staffing and scheduling to ensure proper floor coverage and smooth service flow.
Manage inventory for both front-of-house and wine cellar needs, ensuring accurate counts and timely ordering.
Assist with payroll processes, including tracking hours and submitting reports to management.
Serve as a mentor and support to fellow servers, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in a lead server or supervisory role in the hospitality industry is required.
Wine Knowledge: A strong understanding of wine, including local and artisanal varietals, is highly desirable. Ideal candidates will be comfortable recommending wine pairings and sharing wine knowledge with guests.
Leadership Skills: We seek someone with proven experience in scheduling, staffing, and maintaining efficient operations during busy service periods.
Work Ethic: Successful candidates must be highly organized, able to multitask effectively, and maintain composure during busy shifts.
Personality: We value individuals who are personable, professional, and enjoy engaging with guests in a friendly and approachable manner.
