Project Youth Plus (PY+) prepares low-income, first-generation and underrepresented youth to thrive in school, college and careers. We use resilience-development strategies that are personalized to meet the strengths, preferences, and challenges of each individual. Grant writing is the primary means by which the organization secures the necessary funding to support the youth who utilize our services to advance in their academic, employment and life goals. Grant funds also allow PY+ to secure funding for operational needs that are required to function as a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Description
This position will be responsible for writing and submitting approximately $1,000,000+ in grants each fiscal year. The Grant Writer will work closely with the Grants Director, who is responsible for prospecting funding opportunities and setting the scope of each project. The Grant Writer will also interface with other staff and managers to gather necessary narrative and budget details. This position reports to the Grants Director.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
Successful track record writing for local foundations, regional, state, and federal government grants, including familiarity with Oregon-based funders.
Assist with annual department Strategic Funding Plans.
Work closely with program Directors and staff to prepare grant proposals to meet established due dates.
Competency creating project budgets and expense reports
Write grant narratives and budget submissions.
Work in conjunction with grant applicants and serve as a point of contact on the status of inquiries, proposals in process, and grants approved.
Map grant proposals to the PY+ strategic plan and verify alignment of ask with stated organization needs.
Prepare grant reports and data share-outs to meet established due dates.
Conduct grant prospecting
Prepare grant-related correspondence and documents.

Position Requirements
Excellent grammar and written communication skills.
Very detailed-oriented, organized and accuracy-driven.
Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience writing grants and grant reports, including successfully obtaining multiple $100,000+ awards and writing for state or federal level grants.
Passionate about funding educational and workforce development opportunities for Southern Oregon youth.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent computer skills, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office; particularly Word and Excel.
Excellent time management and reliable project tracking skills that support juggling multiple deadlines per week.
Familiarity with logic models.
Experience using databases or spreadsheets as a tool for effective operations and information management.
Strong time management/prioritization skills and solid judgment with outstanding attention to detail and follow-up.
Able to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
