Position: Part-time - seasonal; responsible to Music Director and Operations Manager
Location: On-site work office, and at various performance venues.
This is a 30 hour a week position with nights and weekend work throughout the Orchestra season. It Compensation is $24 an hour, including a $350 monthly health stipend.

About Us: The Rogue Valley Symphony celebrates 58 years as the premiere orchestra in Southern Oregon. Now a professional orchestra with more than 70 players and three venues in Ashland, Medford, and Grants Pass, the Rogue Valley Symphony continues its mission to bring a live orchestra experience to where you are.
Responsibilities:
1. Hire musicians to fill all orchestra seats and ensure that all parts are covered for each concert set.
2. Record attendance of all musicians at rehearsals and performances at each concert set.
3. Attend all rehearsals and performances, arriving at least 30 minutes prior to the start.
4. Prepare a document for the Music Director that lists all new and/or returning musicians to welcome and introduce for each concert set.
5. Arrange housing for all out-of-town musicians.
6. Prepare a list of musicians and their seats for each concert set to be distributed to Music Director (MD), Operations Manager (OM), Librarian, and Stage Manager.
7. Work with Operations Manager to ensure payroll is correct for each concert set.
8. Communicate details and information about each concert set to all musicians.
9. Be the point person to contact when musicians have specific requests.
10. Create musician contracts.
11. Ensure that all necessary Federal and State forms are completed and submitted by each musician prior to their first payroll period.
12. Regular updates to musician data base.
Personnel manager responsibilities continued:
Season Schedule:
o Create full rehearsal and performance schedule and send to OM.
o Enter rehearsal and performance schedule onto master calendar.
o Eventually create Google survey to send to musicians about new season.
o Work with OM to create individual player contracts for RVS musicians and subs.
Instrumental needs/rentals
o Provide season rep to principal percussionist and find out what instruments we will need to borrow or rent.
o Make an official request to Terry Longshore at SOU including all specifics (instruments needed, date/time of pickup, date/time of return, dates/places used, and completed off-campus use forms).
o Seek alternative sources for any instruments not available
o Prepare rental instrument budget for OM review
o Piano needs/rental
o Review season instrumentation identify piano/celeste needs with Operations Manager
o Ascertain from soloist contracts their piano practice time requests
o Determine which programs could use house pianos and which need a rental instrument.
o Discuss use of piano studio with Prof. Tutunov and Tom Lowell (SOU tuner), provide them with a concert schedule.
o Schedule instruments and create budget and give to OM
o Secure celeste instrument from Britt Festival parts could be played on SOU keyboard glockenspiel and which require celeste.
Venues
Maintain regular contact with venues as necessary.
Guest Artists
o Arrange AVIS rental at airport
o Pick up or arrange airport pickup when necessary.
o Coordinate (daily) ground transportation and access to practice space, if needed.
o Shop for any green room items specified in contract or requested by artist.
Auditions
o Work with OM on all aspects of auditions advertising, vacant position listing, communications with applicants
o Set up preliminary, semi-final, and live audition rounds
o Communicate with MD and orchestra principals as to audition repertoire lists.
o Communicate with MD and orchestra principals re: audition rounds scheduling.
o Assist OM in administering live auditions locations and with live auditions as well.
o Assist OM in post audition tabulations, and contracting
And other duties as assigned.
Additional qualifications
Must have at least 2-5 years of experience in the area of managing personnel in a supervisory capacity.
A flexible, outgoing, and friendly personality with the ability to meet new people easily and handle difficult and potentially stressful situations with ease.
A genuine interest and enthusiasm for the mission of the Rogue Valley Symphony.
An understanding of the fundamental principles of the non-profit business model.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Technological skills should include, but are not limited to:A good working knowledge of Windows operating system and programs, Google Suite (including Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.) & Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Ability to learn and adapt to new personnel management software.
Must own or have access to vehicle during the concert set weeks.
