JOB TITLE: Sustainability Manager

SCHEDULE: 40+

COMPENSATION: DOE

Job Summary: Provide strategic leadership and vision in support of Ashland Food Co-op’s energy and sustainability goals. To supervise Sustainability department operations and personnel consistent with policies and procedures. To promote AFC sustainability efforts by initiating strategies and managing projects to achieve our Sustainability Goals.

Qualifications:

B.A. in Sustainability, Environmental Studies or related field

5+ years in project management

2-4 years in sustainability

Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Knowledgeable regarding sustainability issues and metrics.

Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.

Exhibit leadership in building awareness and support for sustainability issues

Able to follow through on projects to completion.

Excellent communication skills.

Strong analytical abilities and project coordination.

Ability to understand complex written or oral instructions.

Experience supervising employees.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Design, execute and manage all sustainability-related projects, meeting all budgetary constraints and target objectives.

Monitor sustainability initiatives to ascertain effectiveness and publish annual report.

Manage Sustainability Committee, and work with committee members and General Manager to achieve sustainability goals.

Promote, manage and execute sustainability programs and initiatives within and across departments and in the community.

Collect and maintain sustainability data and metrics.

Work with all stakeholders to establish and achieve sustainability goals and initiatives.

Use appropriate Co-op media channels to keep employees, owners and the community apprised of and engaged with AFC sustainability initiatives.

Oversees all of the environmental and sustainability issues within AFC.

Creates and employs strategies that will help to encourage better eco-friendly tactics, social equality, and financial success for the company.

Ensures that sustainable practices are integrated into all aspects of business operations and reports on the effectiveness and progress of such practices.
