Fort George Brewery Hiring for a Station Chef

The Station Chef aids the Kitchen Leadership team in daily operations. Station Chefs assist in the kitchens, cooking, prepping, ensuring the kitchens are stocked, FIFO, and the team is set up for success. This role requires a self-starter work ethic, the ability to work well independently and as part of a team, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for food service and food safety. The Station Chef communicates regularly with Kitchen Leadership and is active in the continuous improvement process. This role also requires that you can work and know the ins and outs of all Fort George food service and cooking lines. This non-managerial role does not have the authority to hire, fire, make decisions for recruitment, terminations, performance reviews, or any other terms & conditions of employment. Varying schedule to include weekends, evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.

Essential Functions:

Routinely work all hourly BOH roles as business and staffing are needed or directed by Kitchen Leadership.

Cover stations while co-workers take breaks and help coordinate breaks as needed.

Help to train and coach co-workers and new hires as directed by Kitchen Leadership.

Continually reevaluate our systems for improvements and make recommendations.

Ensure the schedule set by management is staffed, and help problem-solve any coverage gaps that occur.

Build daily checklists and pars; ensure their daily use.

Maintain a strong relationship with the FOH.

Assist with stocking on the line.

Assist with private event and special event food services.

Assist with ensuring co-workers have locked all doors, windows, and entrances during closing shifts.

Assist with kitchen maintenance and equipment problem-solving.

Attend all mandatory meetings.

Other duties as assigned by managers.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Ideal Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older

Experience in a full-service, high-volume restaurant setting

Ability to perform the position’s essential functions across all kitchen stations.

Valid Food Handlers card required (must be obtained within 30 days from the first date of employment)

Ability to read labels on chemicals

Knowledge of workplace and safety procedures (may be obtained during training)
