Job Summary
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, inventory supervision, and compliance. This role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, maintains internal controls, and supports executive decision-making through timely and accurate financial insights. The Controller also manages accounting staff, banking relationships, cash flow, and company insurance policies to safeguard company assets and support long-term financial stability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Plan, coordinate, and supervise all accounting operations and procedures.
Consolidate and prepare company financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Support executive management in financial decision-making through data-driven insights.
Evaluate and improve accounting control systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
Inventory Oversight
Supervise inventory management and reconciliation processes.
Ensure accurate reporting of inventory levels and valuation.
Collaborate with purchasing and operations teams to align buying and selling practices with financial goals.
Budgeting & Planning
Lead the development and management of the annual operating budget.
Monitor performance against budget and identify areas for improvement.
Oversee tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Staff Leadership
Hire, train, and supervise accounting and finance personnel.
Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting team.
Cash Flow, Banking & Insurance
Manage company banking relationships and ensure optimal cash flow management.
Oversee and maintain company insurance policies and handle claims as needed.
Ensure safeguarding of company assets through sound financial practices and internal controls.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with government reporting and tax filing requirements.
Develop and maintain systems to ensure adherence to accounting standards and legal regulations.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or a minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting or finance.
Experience: Proven experience in managing financial operations, including inventory, budgeting, and reporting.
Strong background in buying and selling operations preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability and attention to detail.
