RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching Responsibilities: Working as part of a team sculpting curriculum for 6-12th
grade math that ensures a smooth math progression between grades and teachers. We are looking for someone who is creative, innovative and flexible about designing courses to fit a range of abilities including students with learning differences who are below grade level and gifted students who need acceleration. We are most interested in someone who specializes in middle school or has experience with students who struggle in traditional math settings. To meet our diverse student needs we ability-group students at the start of every school year and are looking for someone interested in participating in this process. Daily responsibilities would include lesson design, tracking student progress, maintaining attendance records, conferring with students and parents frequently and completing quarterly evaluations.
Beyond the Classroom: Involvement in school community and professional development activities as scheduled during the year.
Academic Advisor: Serve as an academic advisor for a group of 10-12 students
Community Member to include: attending community events such as potlucks, plays, and field trips, assisting in substituting for other teachers, and generally “pitching-in” when possible. Also includes an all-school three-day camping trip.
Delegated Responsibilities: as identified by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BA from a four-year college in a related field.
Experience working with youth.
Knowledge of experiential learning through hands-on tasks, projects and guided reflection.
Experience in competency or standards-based teaching and assessment a plus.
Experience in curriculum development.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with peers.
Valid Oregon driver’s license and ability to drive students when necessary.
Strong computer skills, working knowledge of Google classroom and Google docs.
Contract: 10 month; 2 week winter break, 2 week spring break, 7 personal days. May arrange to be paid over 10 or 12 months
