About the Position:
The School Age Classroom Leader is responsible for developing a cohesive classroom team, coordinating curriculum, and managing the daily operations of the school age classroom. This leader will ensure a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
An ideal candidate will be someone who genuinely loves working with children and finds joy in helping them learn, explore, and build confidence.
This position reports to the Director
Key Responsibilities:
-Coordinate and implement a developmentally appropriate school age program through thoughtful activity planning and curriculum design.
-Plan and lead individual and group age-appropriate activities that support children’s social, physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
-Assist children with successful completion of homework assignments.
-Maintain open and positive communication with parents through informal conversations, daily reports, and scheduled conferences.
-Ensure a healthy and safe classroom environment through proper hygiene, cleanliness, and adherence to safety protocols.
-Lead by example and support school age assistants through coaching, modeling, and teamwork.
-Supervise school-age classroom teachers, assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure compliance with planned activities and all health and safety standards.
-Ensure adherence to all program policies and state regulations.
-Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation.
-Support continuous quality improvement by maintaining personal and staff professional development plans.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
-Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children ages 5-12 years.
-Strong oral and written communication skills.
-Basic computer proficiency.
-High energy and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and children.
-Solid understanding of child development principles.
-Excellent leadership, organization, and interpersonal skills.
-Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification.
Educational Requirements:
-High School Diploma or equivalent
-5 years from date of hire- 12 college credits related to education, teaching, and/or child development
-Valid driver’s license, comfortable driving small bus (CDL license not required)
-Ability to pass a full background check and health screening.
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers to handle objects or tools, and communicate at various volume levels.
-Ability to kneel, bend, squat, run, or crawl as needed.
-Must have adequate vision, including close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color vision.
-Ability to lift 35 lbs.
