Spanish Teacher, K-8
The Marylhurst School is an independent, progressive education community located in West Linn. Founded in 1972, we serve 160 children in preschool through eighth grade. We embrace the creativity, questions and risk taking of childhood in a supportive, hands-on environment.
The Marylhurst school seeks a part-time (12 hours a week) Spanish teacher to start in the fall of 2019, preschool through eighth grade. Social-emotional development is a key part of our programs, and teachers must be comfortable and skilled at problem solving with children.
REPORTS TO: Head of School
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Teach with knowledge of subject materials and a passion for education.
Fluent Spanish speaker.
Be aware of appropriate state standards.
Prepare thoughtful instruction.
Provide clearly defined student evaluation system.
Work with students outside of class as is appropriate or necessary.
Maintain high standards for student behavior in and out of the classroom.
Be available and responsive to parents.
Attend school faculty meetings.
Write annual narrative reports.
Be committed to ongoing professional growth and development.
Work to build positive school culture and a growing program.
Chaperone, proctor and fulfill school duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS, experience teaching elementary school, Ability to pass a criminal background test and a drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of teaching.
Demonstrated and successful history with innovation in the teaching of elementary aged children and with project based learning.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Intercultural competency, ability to interact appropriately with a diverse array of people.
Interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain collegial relationships with colleagues.
REQUIREMENTS: Registered with Oregon Background Registry, minimum 2 years teaching experience, current CPR/First Aid card and Food Handlers Permit.
COMPENSATION: Salary commensurate with experience.
