As a Facility Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our food manufacturing plant runs smoothly and efficiently. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, coordinating with and supervising outside contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and food industry standards.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for working in the food industry. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. A basic understanding and comfort in diagnosing and understanding the operations of sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, electricity, steam, natural gas, water, HVAC and mechanical systems experience with large scale equipment and experience working on equipment and vehicles
Qualifications:
Electrical understanding a MUST; electrical circuits, automated equipment controls etc
Maintenance experience in Food Manufacturing facility is desired
Minimum 1-2 years’ mechanical experience
Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience and experience of facility maintenance in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry
Basic understanding and the ability to diagnose electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, steam. natural gas, water, and of different types of pumps and their systems
Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Flexibility to work weekends or evenings as needed for maintenance emergencies
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, standing, and bending for extended periods of time
Comfort in standing on rooftops
Comfort using machine and hand tools
Responsibilities
Create master maintenance schedule for all facility systems based on manufacturer recommendations to minimize downtime
Identify contractors to support maintenance schedule
Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on facility and equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems using test instruments when necessary
Assist with and prepare machinery setup for scheduled production runs
Make necessary corrections to operating parameters to maintain system efficiency and operation.
Provide emergency/unscheduled support of essential systems
Diagnose and prioritize problems, order and install basic repair parts, test and adjust as required to return machinery to service, engage 3rd party contractors as needed.
Understand production systems and machinery thoroughly, diagnose sources of failure or downtime, identify and correct to avoid unnecessary or repeated downtime
Anticipate wear and/or downtime through routine observation and operator feedback
Understand basic facilities and infrastructure (chillers, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) requirements and operating conditions, perform preventative maintenance as scheduled, repair unscheduled interruptions as needed to return systems to service and minimize operations downtime
Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues, and provide quick and efficient solutions
Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent
Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned by the facility manager
